DESCRIPTION

This cottage is a wood frame building (16×20) with a camouflage vinyl roof and an 8×8 deck attached. Features include a solar water tank, kitchen with all the extras you wished you had when you last camped at Maho Bay Camps, Cinnamon Bay or Concordia.  This is now called “Glamping”.  Total privacy.  Peace and quiet.  and most especially  it is walking distance to fabulous snorkeling and National Park trails.

16×20 wood frame cabin with camouflage tarp roof for your complete privacy and loads of screening so you feel you are right on the water. Living area with couch and chairs and a dining table which will seat 4 if you have friends over for a meal. Twin beds are at the opposite end with wooden walls and exterior drop curtains for protection from showers. Bathroom with toilet and shower (w/solar tank on roof), kitchen with counters, sink, microwave, small fridge, cooler, coffee maker, 2 burner Coleman stove, small Weber grill on outside 8×8 deck with lounge chairs. All linens provided including beach towels. More complete list available.

Playing here is an everyday thing. We snorkel to see corals, myriad fishes, swim with turtles, dive for conch and lobster, even take underwater photos…

Hiking is really easy from our cottage. Choose Ram Head for the night before the full moon. You get to see the moon rise over Tortola and the sun set over St. Thomas and because you are there a day early there will be no crowd and the moon will light your way home.

There are ancient ruins of a bay rum factory at Lameshur Bay and at Reef Bay the ruins of the last operating sugar plantation on island and pre-Columbian petroglyphs.

St John bird watching Maho CampgroundDrunk Bay is fun for those who want to help the environment. Much waste washes up on the beach form boats and other islands…every day is Earth Day and we encourage you to take a trash bag and bring something to the dumpster.

Many Beaches are within easy walking distance, too. Blue Cobble Beach, Salt Pond Bay, Kiddel Bay, Grootpan Bay, Great Lameshur Bay, Yawzi Point, Little Lameshur Bay, Europa Bay and Reef Bay…all within walking distance, each offering a different experience.

Bird Watching is superior! Spring is mating season and the pond is full of wonderful birds. We routinely see Bananaquit and green-throated hummingbird, Antillean Bulfinch, ruddy duck, smoothbilled ani, white-cheeked pintail, zenaida dove, pearly-eyed thrasher, sandpipers, stilts, turnstones…and this year we had a flock of nesting egrets added up to a count of 31…to name a few

My husband, Bill and I quit our jobs in Maine in 1997 (we were 52 yrs. old). We took a leap of faith and moved to St. John where we already owned ½ an acre of land on the quietest..
